general Dream

I was at Disneyland, but it wasn’t really Disneyland. I was staying in a hotel room on the property, as in inside the park, and closing time was fast approaching. They were locking the doors of the hotel, and I had to get back before it was too late. I had to run across a big grassy expanse to get there, and it was all divided up with stakes and string like they were reseeding it in a grid. When I got to the hotel, it was actually the natural history museum or something; there were live elephants all over the place. The doors were locked, and I banged on them, but a keeper let me in.

It was too late for room service, or just barely (note this actually happened Sunday night), but an employee who was ordering room service offered to let me pose as his wife so we could both get a sandwich at the same time.

In my room, which was an enormous split-level suite, Lisa was there. It was my hotel room, but it was also my apartment. I opened a door I’d never opened before and found a storage room with a closet and a new refrigerator and freezer, with food inside. Lisa and I decided to eat something out of the freezer. There was a size 19 party dress in the closet, a really tacky-looking ’80s thing with black tulle and sequins and a tag saying it came from Sears.

The parade came by, except it wasn’t really the big Disneyland parade (which was awesome; bad pictures of it start here and go backwards). It was a little train full of kids made up to look like clowns, driven by a woman who shouted “How many watching?” as she approached each door. Note that this parade came through my suite. Lisa and I said “two” and all the kids held up two fingers and waved at us as they passed the doorway.

Through the whole dream I was only wearing a towel.
