Spy planes
The resolution and usability of the bird’s-eye view on map.live.com are unbelievable. For some reason, today, I found myself looking at my hometown again. For some even less fathomable reason, this is the tidbit I choose to share.
This is my junior high school. It’s bigger now than it was; I think the buildings with the darkest roofs (at the top and at the upper right) postdate me. I graduated from this school in 1987, so it’s fine that they’ve moved on.
However, there is one thing that happened within the bounds of this picture that I thought I’d relate.
See the white and yellow buses? See the cement steps to the right and just below the yellow bus?
I was standing on those steps when I learned that Wham broke up.
That is all.
The blue one is a little bit cheating for me
Balance sheet
Because I have to re-convince myself this is the right thing to do. Because lately it’s been so much waiting and so much worrying—and it’s showing—that I became tempted to tell Molly to scrap the whole thing.
Will miss:

Won’t miss:
- Searching for a parking spot
- Noisy neighbors
- Balcony neighbors think is shared property
- Unstable satellite dish
- Back door that unlocks and opens itself in some storms
- Outdoor storage closet
- Maintenance guys coming in without knocking
- 20 steps from the street to the apartment
- Dark office
- Ten layers of sticky white paint
- No catproofable areas
- Tiny washer and dryer
- Bad heating/cooling vent placement
- Noisy furnace/air conditioner in the living room
- Leaky second shower
- Metal folding closet doors
- Dumpster
- Going upstairs to pee
- This constant waiting around for the seller’s bank to unass their thumbs
Flat-out gains:
- Reserved parking spots right out front
- Space, space, space
- Wood floor
- Separate dining room
- Deck
- Triple-LNB satellite dish bolted to said deck
- Another bedroom
- Powder room on the main level
- Close-off-able basement rooms
- Fenced yard
- Attic
- Brick
- Flowers
- Can finally hang hammock chair purchased in 1999
