I’m the worst winner ever
I entered this coloring contest a couple weeks ago, because I remembered its previous iteration had so few entries it couldn’t be tough to win. I never heard anything back, so I figured I hadn’t won, big deal, whatever. Then I was on the site and realized the contest had actually ended on my birthday (okay, only a week ago, but it still feels like I’m ages late to the party).
And lo and behold I was one of the winners.
Here’s a link to the contest results, including the artist judge’s description of my entry as “clean, myterious, lovely colors.” [sic]

This is the picture I colored:
And this is my entry (click to view the Flickr page):
Every piece of that (well, almost) is a gradient mesh, which is a feature in Illustrator that I never get to use. So that’s nice.
You know what I won? Provided the MacZot people, whose customer service has been about 50/50 for me in the past, step up? An Officer and a Gentleman on DVD. And maybe (the phrasing is really unclear) a program called ArtText that might be fun to play with (and laugh at behind its back while Illustrator CS3 and I are hanging out).
Bizarre contest. But you can’t beat winning.
